Blackberry Farm is a seasonal facility situated within a protected riparian habitat. As such, the Blackberry Farm picnic area is subject to specific policies to preserve this environment.
I am planning a picnic at one of your parks. May I use the picnic tables and BBQ grills?
City Park Picnic Areas: Picnic tables and small BBQ grills are dispersed throughout most City of Cupertino parks and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis for a family or small group. For large groups, reservable group picnic areas with large BBQ grills and grouped tables are recommended and are available for rental reservations.
Blackberry Farm Picnic Areas: All picnic sites at Blackberry Farm must be reserved ahead of time and not available on first-come, first-serve basis.
Which parks have reservable group picnic areas, and how do I reserve one?
City Park Picnic Areas: Rentals are available year‐round (City holidays excluded). They must be reserved at least seven days in advance online at reg4rec.org or in‐person at the Quinlan Community Center (QCC) Recreation Office during regular office hours. What are the fees and capacity of reservable group picnic areas?

What is the cancellation and refund policy for a picnic site reservation?
City Park Picnic Areas: The permittee must submit cancellation requests in writing to the QCC Recreation Office or email refunds@cupertino.gov at least 10 days before your rental date. Refund requests due to rainout must be submitted by the end of the next business day after your rental date.
Blackberry Farm Picnic Areas: The permittee must submit cancellation requests in writing to the Recreation Office or email at least 30 days before the rental date for a full refund, or 15 days before the rental date for a 50% refund.
May I play music in the park and use a microphone?
City Park Picnic Areas: No. Using any system for amplifying sounds (i.e., speakers, microphones, etc.) for speech or music is prohibited in the parks and amphitheater. Community festival events are excepted per their approved exclusive park use permit.
Blackberry Farm Picnic Areas: Yes. Single speaker microphones and small boom box radios with a power output not exceeding 25 watts are permitted. DJs and amplified performances are not allowed.
May I bring a generator?
City Park Picnic Areas: Generators are only allowed for bounce house rentals and must be provided by the bounce house vendor.
Blackberry Farm Picnic Areas: No, generators are not allowed.
May I have a bounce house set up in the park? May I bring my own?
A bounce house is allowed only at Creekside or Memorial Park at the designated locations in conjunction with a group picnic area rental that includes a bounce house permit. It must be separately rented only from our approved vendor(s) and fees depend on your selection. A personal bounce house is not allowed. Which group picnic site has the most tree shade? May I bring my own shade canopy?
City Park Picnic Areas: In order of most to least shade are Creekside, Linda Vista, Portal, and Memorial Park. Pop‐up shade canopies no larger than 10 ft. x 10 ft. are allowed in a group picnic area (maximum of four) and must be free-standing and anchored by weights.
Blackberry Farm Picnic Areas: All picnic areas at Blackberry Farm provide excellent shade except for the Bobcat picnic area.
Is the grass field next to the group picnic area included in my reservation? May we use the softball field for a friendly game?
Exclusive use of the grass field area next to a group picnic site is not included. It is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. A permit is required to use the Memorial Park softball field. Softball field permits may be obtained at the QCC Recreation Office.
May I bring my BBQ grill to use at the picnic area?
City Park Picnic Areas: Yes, your personal gas or charcoal grill may be used. It may not be used in a grass area and must be placed next to an existing park BBQ grill in the designated cooking area location.
Blackberry Farm Picnic Areas: No, personal barbeques and lighter fluid is not allowed. All groups must use the charcoal grills provided on-site. Propane or butane is not allowed. Blackberry Farm has charcoal chimneys available if you need help getting coals started without lighter fluid.
May I bring my dog(s) to the picnic area?
City Park Picnic Areas: Yes, dogs are allowed in park areas designated by City park signs, but must remain on a suitable leash no more than six feet long. Dogs off-leash are only allowed at Mary Avenue Dog Park, or Jollyman Park and Linda Vista Park Dog Off‐Leash Areas (DOLA). Blackberry Farm Picnic Areas: No, with the exception of service animals, pets are not allowed in the picnic area.
Are alcoholic beverages allowed at the picnic area?
City Park Picnic Areas: Yes, alcoholic beverages (except kegs and hard liquor) are allowed when served with a meal. They are not permitted on or around the softball field, tennis courts, or playground areas.
Blackberry Farm Picnic Areas: Yes, alcoholic beverages (including kegs with preapproval by the City) are allowed when served with a meal.
May I bring a piñata?
No, piñatas, balloons (including water balloons), confetti, party poppers, and other party decorations composed of small particles are not allowed.
May I bring a caterer or vendor food truck to my picnic area event?
City Park Picnic Areas: Yes, a caterer is allowed in conjunction with a site reservation. A vendor food truck is allowed and must be there only for your private event use. For detailed requirements and pre‐approval, please contact the Recreation Office.
Blackberry Farm Picnic Areas: Yes, a caterer is allowed in conjunction with a site reservation. The caterer must be able to transport their equipment to the picnic site without use of their vehicle as the bridge to the picnic sites is not load-rated for personal vehicles. A vendor food truck is not allowed.
