Transportation Alternatives

Welcome to the City's sustainable transportation webpages. Here you will find programs, policies, and resources about greening your transportation method.

The City's Sustainability and Transportation team work closely to provide robust solutions.

Transportation is our largest sector of emissions and is a priority for the city to address.

Understand your impact

As of 2021, transportation from vehicles and off-road equipment produces 75% of the City's emissions. YOU CAN HELP!

Every time you find an alternative to driving or drive a low-emission vehicle, you are keeping climate-changing carbon dioxide and air-polluting nitrous oxide, particulates and other substances out of the air. Some alternative modes of transportation are:

  • Walking
  • Biking
  • Carpooling
  • Using public transit (bus, train, community rideshare)
  • Telecommuting
  • Driving an EV

Personal benefits include cost savings, exercise, and better time use. Replacing your personal vehicle or business fleet with a clean technology option also reduces emissions. Electric vehicles are especially environmentally friendly when the electricity that powers them comes from carbon-free sources, such as those provided by Silicon Valley Clean Energy, Cupertino’s default provider.

Your efforts to get around with green transportation mean a healthier and more sustainable natural environment, enhancing our quality of life.
