Environmental Recycling and Paper Shredding Events
The City of Cupertino and Recology offer free quarterly drive-through, drop-off services at De Anza College (21250 Stevens Creek Blvd.) for Cupertino residents. These events promote product reuse and prevent valuable resources from entering landfills.
Event Guidelines:
- Residents are responsible for unloading materials
- Personal identification is required to verify Cupertino residency (e.g., Driver's License or current collection bill)
The event will occur on the following dates from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- January 18, 2025
- April 26, 2025
- August 23, 2025
- November 15, 2024

Acceptable Materials
- Confidential documents for shredding - three box limit
- Yard Waste (processed for compost)
- U-Waste (batteries, cell phones, compact fluorescent bulbs and fluorescent tubes)
- E-Waste (computers, monitors and printers, etc.)
- Kitchen appliances that do not contain freon (acceptable items: washer, dryers, non freon refrigerators, microwaves, toasters)
- Construction debris (Limit of 2-cubic yards (one pick-up-truck load) of construction debris, untreated wood, dirt, rock, and concrete)
- Reusable/donatable items such as clothes or shoes. Items must be in good condition. Broken, disassembled, stained, heavily scratched, or otherwise undesirable items may be refused for drop-off.
Unacceptable Materials
- Products containing toxic chemicals (paints, pesticides, fertilizers)
- Painted or treated wood
- Mattresses
- Kitchen appliances that contain freon
- Items that are broken, disassembled, or not in good enough condition to donate
On-Call Collection Program
Bulky Item Pickup: Cupertino residents are eligible for two free on-call collections per year, with a limit of 3 bulky items per collection. For details or scheduling, visit Recology's Bulky Items page or call 408.725.4020.
