Teach A Class
The Cupertino Parks and Recreation Department contracts with a variety of external vendors, organizations, and individual instructors to provide a robust and wide range of offerings to the community. Contracted instructors are not City employees, function as independent contractors, and may offer classes, camps, and/or programs throughout the year. Programs are categorized as follows: Youth and Teen Education, Enrichment, Sports, and Fitness, Adult Enrichment and Fitness, Senior Programs, Sports Center Instructors and Trainers, and Outdoor and Nature Education.
If you are interested in teaching a class through the City, please first review the City of Cupertino Contract Instructor Manual(PDF, 441KB). This manual contains important information on how to become a contractor, including insurance requirements, program procedures, general contractor expectations, and standard protocols and emergency information.
Instructors looking to offer or continue offering classes must submit a Contract Instructor Activity Proposal Form to the Parks and Recreation staff for review.
Proposal Deadlines and Seasonal Timelines
The following are deadlines for proposals, based on when information is due for the respective season’s Recreation Schedule:
- Winter Season (January to March) – Proposals due by beginning of August.
- Spring Season (April to May) and Summer Camps – Proposals due by beginning of October.
- Summer Season (June to August) – Proposals due by end of December.
- Fall Season (September to December) – Proposals due by beginning of April.
