Environmental/Sustainability Division merges into Public Works

City of Cupertino Environmental/Sustainability Division merges into the Department of Public Works:  Increasing efficiency, enhancing programs through collaboration, and reducing expenditures by approximately $250,000.

In early 2023, the City merged the Sustainability Division with the Environmental Programs Division in the Public Works Department.  These two divisions often collaborate and work on similar efforts, therefore, this action was taken to allow for better synergy, while continuing to provide excellence in sustainability efforts and programs throughout the City and region.

The merger and restructuring of the division have also created a significant savings to the City’s General Fund, by reducing expenditures totaling approximately $250,000.
