Encroachment Permits
An Encroachment Permit is required for any work to be performed within the public right-of-way. Examples of work that may require an encroachment permit include, but are not limited to, the following:

Trenching for work on utility lines

Utility relocation

Driveway expansion or curb, gutter, sidewalk construction

Placement of storage containers

Temporary lane closures and/or diversion of traffic to accommodate construction
Please read all the instructions below before you submit a permit application
Step 2: Apply for a Permit through the “Public Works” tab
Follow the steps below to create an Encroachment Permit application:
- Click on the Public Works tab
- Click on the "Create Application" text in the green banner
- Select the Encroachment Permit type and complete the Application prompts, including uploading required documents
- After your application has been submitted, you will receive email notifications advising you of the next steps in the permitting process.

Step 3: Obtain Your Issued Permit
After your application is approved and your permit is signed, you will receive an email with a copy of the issued signed permit and a link to download the approved plans. You may also view and download the issued signed permit and approved plans in ACA:
- Open your record summary using the “View Record Details” button
- Click on the “Record Info” dropdown at the top of the record
- Select “Attachments” in the dropdown
Please review the issued signed permit before commencing any work to ensure accuracy and adherence to the general and special conditions noted.
